8. Asians or Europeans?

A part of the country called Turkey is in Europe and the rest in Asia. In general, in our experience, the culture of the Turkish people is closer to Asian culture. But it seems that a good part of them wants to be European. That is why they imitate Europeans in dress and other things. In fact, like Indian culture, the current culture in Turkey is a hybrid culture. The Turkish language itself is a good example. The script is English. The grammar is Arabic. Because of this, they can never handle the English language well. Almost all books are available in Turkish translation, even engineering books. I doubt if they have heard of copyright. I understood this after the first classes.

Almost all the information has to be written on the board. Students will obediently write everything down. The students will be very happy if the questions are asked from that. Everyone will get good marks. It is a problem if they ask a little differently. I remember a story a friend told me. Two Arab students were caught cheating at his university. Both of them wrote in the same way, the same mistake. Normally, the same mistake is rare. They were called toexplain. They told the truth, they did not cheat. They wrote in the same way that the teacher taught them. They brought the class notes and showed them. Itis true, the mistake was the teacher's. They would have written exactly as they were taught in class.

Membership in the European Council is also an eternal dream of the Turkish people. But it has not yet been realized, for many reasons. Like India and Pakistan, Turkey and Greeceare at enmity. In the name of Cyprus. Istanbul is a large city in Turkey that is historically important and still maintains its charm. Half of that city is in Europe and half in Asia. Economically, Turkey is behind us. All those who went to the Crusades trampled Turkey. Their Anatolian culture is older than our Mohenjo daro culture. But in the continuous wars and earthquakes, many of the old ones were destroyed. They have kept many historical relics excavated from the earth's depths in the museum. The Anatolian Museum in Ankara is one of the largest museums in the world.

Visit to Istanbul

After seeing Ankara, we got our visa for America. . When we asked for a six-month visa, the American embassy asked us to take a ten-year visa. On the way, we thought we would stop in Istanbul for a day and see the city. . Istanbul is the gateway to Europe. Our helper was a medical student. He was a relative of a friend in Adana. Hisname was Nasser. He was waiting at the airport. Since we were in the middle of a tour to America, we had a little extra luggage. We were staying in an apartment on the fourth floor, which belonged to a friend of Adana. The taxi driver brought our things to the apartment without us asking. Even though we paid more money, he didn't accept it. Nasser had brought all the things to the apartment for us. Even the milk for the tea. We ate food from outside at night. The hotel is small but kept clean. A waterfall model has been created in the dry heat. The food arrived within half an hour. Salad was the first. Salad is an indispensable part of Turkish food. There is usually a fairly large bowlful of. Tomatoes, cucumbers, and some other leaves. Some olive oil is poured on top of it. If we eat it all, our stomachs will be full. After that, the main meal and bread would come

Bridge fr om Asia to Europe

There we met a Pakistani doctor. His name was Quadir. He looked like leg spinner Abdul Quadir. He has been working in Istanbul for 18 years. He is married to a Turkish woman and has2 children. Dr. Quadir is about 45 years old. When he came to know that we were Indians, he came up to us and introduced himself. We talked happily in Hindi. The Hindi that we used in Delhi was useful. The border or Kashmir did not come up in our conversation. It was a hearty conversation like that of a countryman. The main topic was the losses caused by the earthquake in Latur. He looked worried as if it was a disaster in their own country. Indians and Pakistanis always act like brothers, it's just that politicians occasionally stir up Kashmir to protect their own interests. At the airport, someone called my wife ‘Indira Gandhi'. The glory of the saree!

The next day, we visited many places with Nasser. When Nasser reached the Blue Mosque, he became eloquent. The sword used by the Prophet is there. Nasser specifically said, ‘The Prophet never used that sword.’ We laughed inwardly. Christianity came as a necessity of the time when Judaism was old and decadent. But Islam came at a time when Christianity was already very popular. History teaches us that the first religious conversions to Islam were forcibly carried out. The beginning of today’s conflicts was also then, and it continues to this day. Bin Ladens and Bushes will certainly be there in the future. Remember that the Crusaders travelled to Jerusalem and the destruction of Turkey has already begun. In many mosques, you can see the results of the war between Islam and Christianity. The image of Jesus painted on glass, high up in many churches, is still standing, barely recognizable from the destruction caused by the occasional earthquake.
